The "Ocarina of Triforce" legend is an urban legend revolving around the 1998 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Description

In early developmental screenshots, the Triforce, the mystical artifact at the heart of the The Legend of Zelda franchise, was shown, implying that it would have some large role in the game’s plot. In the final version of the game, however, the Triforce is noticeably absent.

The protagonist does obtain a single piece of the Triforce in the game, but it is an unusable item that is only relevant to the story and not to gameplay. The inventory screen also possesses the blackened image of a Triforce, suggesting that this was the space that Triforce would inhabit once collected. This led to rumors that the Triforce was still in the game and could be obtained through obscure methods.

One of the main methods that had been spread was learning and playing a special secret Ocarina song, the “Overture of Sages” prior to obtaining the Master Sword. Through hacking, it has been revealed that no Overture of Sages and no Triforce item exist in the game’s code.
